Christmas Cookie Bake

Its our first Christmas together, and its time for new traditions! Baking cookies seemed to be a great way for the Taylor family to get together, have fun and make new memories. As the newest member of the Taylor family, I love opportunities to get to know my in-laws better! I was a bit nervous to be having the first official cookie bake at our house, though. After all, being married only 4 months, I have no experience entertaining guests!

Saturday, November 27 began with a flourish of last minute housecleaning and preparations. Having just returned home from my parents the night before, we had plenty to keep us busy while awaiting to arrival of our anticipated guests.  (My husband was a dear, helping me in any way he could think of or that I could ask! <3 )

At a little after 10am our guests arrived! My mother and father-in-law, brother-in-law and his girlfriend came with lots of cookies, ingredients and all sorts of things for baking, icing and decorating cookies and a gingerbread house!

Us ladies began right away while the guys worked  on a project they have been planning to do together for awhile. We cut out the gingerbread house and cookies from homemade dough my mother-in-law made! After mixing the icing and experimenting with colors :-) , we began decorating cookies, cookies and more cookies.

After awhile we realized that we still had a gingerbread house to decorate! The house itself turned out rather well, but with much effort the decorations would not cooperate. So we decided to call it a day. With piles of cookies, some decorated and some not, we concluded that our first Cookie Bake was a success!

We had lots of fun visiting, eating, and creating, and we plan on continuing the tradition. The men gained some headway in their project, while Cora tried to remain the center of attention! (I'm sure she had more than her share ;-)!)
